C.1922 Shoshone Moccasins. Thread-sewn beadwork around the sole
in blue, green, and white seed beads. Decorative bands of dyed quill work,
including "boxed eye" design on the instep. Separate
rawhide sole construction. The creator of this pair of moccasins
obviously rejected the movement toward floral designs and based their work on
19th-century beadwork.
Donated by Mrs. Ethel Cutler Freeman and
accessioned in 1979.
