C. 1870.  Shoshone beaded blanket strip.  Seed beads, sinew thread, hide backing, silk ribbon, brass bells.  Plains Indians produced these long beaded strips, usually done on hide backing, and then attached them to trade blankets or hide robes.  Click here to see a detailed view of one of the rosettes; and click here to see the green & blue rectilinear design.  Length is  61."
