C. 1890-1910.  Shoshone beaded pouch.  Buckskin, cotton thread, seed beads, brass brads or buttons.  Quite likely, this was used as a ration card pouch or perhaps asmall coin purse.  Ration pouches held the cards that entitled the holder to annuity issues and beef rations, which were provisions made in the 1868 Treaty of Fort Bridger that established the Wind River Reservation.  Note that the design is a 19th-century floral pattern.  Size is 4.5" long and 3.5" wide.  Cat. No. Box 807, Benjamin Sheldon, Alice Sheldon, and Howard "Tubby" Houston Col.  Courtesy American Heritage Center, Laramie, WY.
