C. 1890-1910. Shoshone beaded pouch. Buckskin, cotton thread, seed
beads, brass brads or buttons. Quite likely, this was used as a ration
card pouch or perhaps asmall coin purse. Ration pouches held the cards
that entitled the holder to annuity issues and beef rations, which were
provisions made in the 1868 Treaty of Fort Bridger that established the Wind
River Reservation. Note that the design is a 19th-century floral pattern.
