Partial views of two belts. Top belt c.
1900, with sinew-sewn beads on hide. Bottom is made from a razor strop, c.
1920, with cotton sewn beadwork and brass brads/buttons. Top is 31.875"
long, 1.5" wide. Bottom is 24.25" long, 3.125" wide.
The bottom belt, although identified as Shoshone, may be of Crow origin, as the
blue background beading is more typical of Crow beadework than Shoshone. Cat Nos. 74.3.5
(top) and 42.9.4 (bottom). Courtesy Wyoming State Museum. |
