C. 1870-1890. Shoshone hide & beaded female doll. Cotton
thread, hair. A note in the box suggests that this doll and the other
items were gifts of Chief Washakie to various Indian agents. This doll is
old enough for this to be possible. Note that the beadwork is done in the
geometric patterns found in the early examples of beading on women's dresses.
