C.1900.  Painted deer skin that depicts four battle scenes in the life of Chief Washakie.  The image of Chief Washakie is based on a Baker & Johnson photograph (Evanston, Wyoming) that was taken c.1883-1885.  Click here or on the image to see a close-up of the sketch of Washakie and the signature.  Unknown artist; possibly Charles Washakie or Cotsiogo (Cadzi Cody).  From the John Jay White collection and accessioned c.1924.  Cat.
