This is a rare example of a Shoshone parfleche in a box-like style.  Vivid painting, with the back depicting the 9-block pattern mentioned by Torrence.  C.1870.   Edges are sinew-sewn, with beaded seams on one side.  Dimensions are 8.5 inches long, 5.5 inches tall, and 3.125 inches deep.  Click here or on the image to see the back side.  Cat.
