Hours:
The Wind River Historical Center & Buckman Resource Center are open from Memorial Day to the end of September from 9-4 daily.

The Buckman Resource Center, office of the Lucius Burch Center, is open weekdays during the summer and 10-4 during the winter.

To schedule school groups or special tours, please call Norman Williamson at 455-2284 to make arrangements.

Facilities:
The facilities at The Wind River Historical Center and Lucius Burch Center consist of the historical Dennison Lodge, an office resource center, the main museum building, and seven out-buildings:

  • First Dubois High School
  • Swans Service Station
  • Bunkhouse
  • Maxwell's Saddle Shop
  • Sheridan Creek Ranger Station
  • Homestead with Nettie Stringer's kitchen
  • Old Dunior Post Office building with tie flumes
  • Coming Soon: The Hays House

(Cornell University, 1981 Art History) has directed national, regional, and state humanities programs in northwest Wyoming for over twenty years. National Endowment for the Humanities projects include cultural preservation and oral history work on the Wind River Indian Reservation with both the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapahoe. Kahin has also worked with Wyoming’s traditional ranching communities and Scandinavian immigrants who participated in the early “tie hack” industry. She directs the Lucius Burch Center and its partner, the Wind River Historical Center. Dr. Kahin also co-directs the Wyoming Heritage project with Nancy Weidel. In addition, she teaches extension courses for the University of Wyoming.
